Disorientation

The directions pointed one
Way, but I only remember half the
Time to turn on the GPS,
And then there’s no cell service,
In the middle of nowhere.

I drove the two lane highway,
Past the mom and pop cemeteries,
Pot holes, and the hand written sign read
Bridge out.

We bypassed standing still
And drove over the dam
I’d visited two decades before,
A hazy memory for another lifetime.

Yes, we certainly weren’t lost,
Just fairly disoriented.
