Observation Tank

It’s the softening that makes the womb possible,
The pliable opening, the stretching beyond a comfort level
Reached by insulating enough layers
To incubate the longing,
Preserve the hurting,
But it’s in the softening and only then,
Where life can grow,
And break free finally,
Outside the glass.

  1. Awesome. The ‘layers’ of this poem give birth to many meanings as well, one being that it seems analogous to the slow gestation of a love (re)born, (tho that could be mere projection/wishful thinking on my part 😉
