Ghosts

When Greenwood burned,
Did the media wonder where the peaceful protesters were?
When Greenwood burned,
Did the white people wonder why all the commotion?
When Greenwood burned,
Did anyone wonder how a black man could doubt the word of a white man?
When Greenwood burned,
Did the children see a bright future?
When Greenwood burned,
Did the faith in legal solutions begin to erode?

When Ferguson burns,
Greenwood’s ghosts raise up and cry out, haunting.
